Happy Birthday, Max!

Two years ago today, a special little guy was born in Leitchfield, KY. A few months later, he stole our hearts.

It's been a challenge raising Max.  His broad-spectrum allergies took over a year to identify, and have been a significant amount of work.  I never thought I would find myself cleaning rotten-smelling gunk out of the dog's ears 2-3 times a day, or obsessing over his rashes or alopecia.  His little snuggles make it all worthwhile.  It breaks my heart to think what would have happened if he had gone to a family that didn't have the commitment or the resources to get to the root of his allergies and find a suitable course of dietary treatment.  He would be deaf, at the very least. I can't think of the worst scenario...

The past couple of years have been rather stressful for R. and me. It has been so very wonderful to have the unconditional adoration that our silly little guy provides. It is such a great feeling to watch him prance around with his friends, play with his tennis ball, or just snuggle up between us.  He has been such a blessing, even when he's infuriating!
Happy Birthday, Kiddo!
